Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) presents two government assignments aimed at increasing competition in the housing market and easing building requirements for renovations.
The first assignment targets the Competition Authority and involves mapping price transparency in the building materials market. The government highlights lack of competition as a possible reason why not enough homes are being built in Sweden.
The goal is for buyers to be able to make clear demands and push prices, which is an important measure for everyone who dreams of building their own home, according to Carlson.
This is an important part of our work to lower the thresholds, he says.
The second assignment targets the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, with the ambition of easing the requirements in the planning and building legislation.
The ambition is to significantly reduce the costs of converting homes. It is also resource- and climate-smart to use resources that already exist, says Carlson.
