There are more women than men who continue to study at university. And the gap between the sexes is growing, according to new statistics from SCB.
Looking at the whole country, 66 percent of women and 48 percent of men had started studying further within five years of taking their high school diploma in 2019.
Compared to the cohort that took their high school diploma in 2014, the proportion of those who continued to study has increased both among women and men, but more among women. Among those who graduated from high school in 2014, 61 percent of women continued to study within five years and 47 percent of men.
The largest difference between the sexes is found in Torsby, where the proportion of women who continue to study five years after high school is 80 percent compared to 18 percent of men.
