The EU's food giants have too much power. A food price commission is needed to stop the skyrocketing food prices, Social Democrats believe.

The commission will strengthen the EU's work to increase competition on the food market and take action against unjustified price increases on food.

They believe that the food giants in Europe have too much power to be able to pressure farmers and drive up food prices.

The food price commission will have three different tasks, according to Reda.

The commission will also examine market influence and financial ownership in the EU's food supply chain. Furthermore, it will work for increased transparency about food companies' costs and profits.
