The so-called DCA agreement, which regulates defence cooperation between Sweden and the USA, is set to come into force in August.
"After the constitutional amendments have come into effect, the agreement will begin to apply. The intention is for the agreement to come into force in August 2024", the government writes in a press release.
The agreement was voted through in the Riksdag on Tuesday. It gives the American military the right to use 17 Swedish military bases and training areas around the country.
Only two parties opposed the agreement, the Left Party and the Green Party. The criticism mainly concerns the lack of a clause against nuclear weapons on Swedish soil.
