The audience has found its way back to the scenes after the pandemic, shows fresh new statistics from the Agency for Cultural Analysis. According to the report "Performing Arts 2023", the audience number is back at the same level as four years ago.
"We see that the audience found its way back to the scenes in 2023 and the statistics indicate that performing arts have now recovered after the sharp decline during the pandemic", says researcher Sofia Arkhede in a press release.
The statistics cover 414 performing arts activities with permanent public funding. It shows that last year, performances and concerts were held in 287 of the country's 290 municipalities, with the most in metropolitan areas. The audience totaled 6 million, and the total revenue was 6.7 billion kronor, while the costs were 6.8 billion kronor.
