Three years after the so-called Nytorgsman was convicted of a number of different sex crimes – including seven rapes and eight sexual assaults – he is suspected again, according to information to Sydsvenskan.
The news hit like a bomb. On social media, many have reacted with dismay.
One of them is 26-year-old Linda Obiedzinski, living in Malmö and also vice chairman of The Moderate Youth League.
Anger. I feel pure and utter anger, she says.
Great concern
Already last spring, reports that the Nytorgsman had moved to Malmö caused great concern. In local media, young women testified that they had started forums where they warned each other.
Linda Obiedzinski recognizes herself in that description.
His picture was absolutely spread in group chats with my girlfriends. It was just another security measure among many others to always be prepared, she says.
You also know that there are many more, but then you at least have control over how he looks.
A reality to relate to
According to Linda Obiedzinski, sexual crimes and women's safety need to get a greater focus in the social debate.
The problem, she claims, is larger than individual individuals.
It's a reality you constantly need to relate to. The risk of being assaulted, but also of being exposed to other sexual crimes, says Obiedzinski.
