Ukraine damaged a Russian bomber aircraft on a airfield in the Murmansk region, which borders Finland, with a drone on Saturday morning. This is claimed by a source within the country's military intelligence service for the Ukrainian news site The Kyiv Independent.
The drone attack is said to have taken place at the Olenja airfield. The information has not been officially confirmed.
However, Finland's President Alexander Stubb states that he has been in contact with Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) regarding the alleged attack in Russia.
We have the situation under control. We have been in contact with Sweden's Prime Minister about the attack and how we will react, he says according to Yle from the Olympic Games in Paris.
He emphasizes, however, that there is no reason for concern.
We just have to get used to having a war at our border, says Stubb.
"Sweden has close contact with our neighboring countries, not least with Finland regarding the security situation", says Kristersson in a comment via his assistant press secretary Susan Vo Bergqvist, and adds:
"The Prime Minister shares Finland's President's basic message that there is no reason for concern. We have war in our vicinity and we are following the development very closely."
