I am so proud of him, he was so brave, says math teacher Kayla Kleine to Canadian Global News.

Kleine had left the door open to ventilate her house in West Vancouver in southwestern Canada. A surveillance camera captured how the bear wanders into the house, stops and looks at the TV and then continues on to the dog's food bowl.

Scout came running around the corner, and I saw the bear running out of our kitchen. Scout chased it out of the house, says Kleine.

The dwarf pinscher Scout weighs only 2.8 kilos but is temperamental and has character, says the dog owner.

He is super affectionate and loving but he is really protective of me and my husband.

Bears are often seen wandering around in the area, but this is the first time the large animal, which can weigh up to 100 kilos, enters the house, according to Kleine.

From now on, she will keep the door closed, even if she has Scout to defend her.
