The EU must open all membership negotiations with Ukraine already this year, urge the Nordic and Baltic member countries in a joint letter.
"It's time for ambitious and effective decisions on this", it says, among other things, in the letter to the EU's Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos and the Polish EU Minister Adam Szlapka.
Ukraine formally launched its membership negotiations with the EU last year, but has not yet been allowed to open any of the 33 so-called negotiation chapters. The opening is blocked mainly by Hungary, which is openly skeptical of Ukrainian membership.
"In the midst of a raging war, Ukraine has stepped up its reform pace. The EU must keep pace", says EU Minister Jessica Rosencrantz (The Moderate Party) in an email to TT.
