The shooting took place in a stairwell and the two boys were taken to hospital by ambulance.

When we arrive, we find the two injured people inside the stairwell, says the police's press spokesperson Patric Fors.

Whether the boys are known to the police from before, they do not want to comment on at this early stage.

It can send completely wrong signals. You can be known to the police in many different ways.

A number of men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, according to the Prosecution Authority. The age and number of those arrested will not be disclosed by the prosecutor.

We have a number of people arrested for attempted murder in two cases, no more than that will the prosecutor disclose. Mainly with the motivation that it is early in the investigation and usual preliminary investigation secrecy, says the Prosecution Authority's press spokesperson Robin Simonsson.

The police were alerted just after 11 pm and for several hours, a large police operation was underway, including a weapons dog. A technical investigation has also been conducted. At around 2 am on New Year's night, it was announced that the cordons had been removed.

We have knocked on doors and collected witness statements in the surrounding area, says Patric Fors.
