A large police operation was underway on Sunday afternoon in an industrial area in Kungälv due to a suspected dangerous object. At 5 pm, the police announced that the object had been detonated under controlled circumstances, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
We quickly assessed that it was explosive, says Morten Gunneng, duty police officer, to the newspaper.
The alarm came in at 1:40 pm, whereupon a larger area was cordoned off and the national bomb squad was called to the scene.
The police have not wanted to comment on what type of object it was. The incident is being investigated as an attempt at public destruction.
