It will not be an Olympic Games for Elaine Thompson-Herah – who took gold in both the 100 metres and the 200 metres at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and in Tokyo 2021, writes the Jamaican star in a post published on social media.
As recently as last week, Thompson-Herah announced that she would not be competing in the 200 metres in order to focus all her energy on the 100 metres instead. But now it is clear that the injury that has been causing problems for the 31-year-old lately will put a complete stop to her participation in Paris.
"I am hurt and crushed to be missing the Olympic Games this year, but in the end it is about sport and my health comes first", she writes in the post.
