Tuesday's training at a sunny Hammarby IP was 18-year-old Smilla Holmberg's first after the European Championship in Switzerland, after a ten-day vacation after the championship.
The leisure time was spent at the country house with loved ones.
It was nice to get some time off after the European Championship and recharge my batteries, and fun to be back here at Kanalplan and get started full-time, says Holmberg.
Scored the decisive penalty
It was a tough Swedish finish to the European Championship. Sweden lost to England on penalties in the quarterfinals.
Holmberg missed the decisive penalty that meant Sweden's exit from the tournament.
I had a clear plan, and if it were to be my turn, I knew what I would do, but it didn't go as I thought. Of course, it's a huge disappointment that I miss the penalty, but also that we as a team are eliminated. It felt like we all had a lot more to give and that we had played very well during the tournament. Extremely sad way to be eliminated, she says.
The 18-year-old was seventh in line to take a penalty, ahead of several more experienced players like Lina Hurtig and Madelen Janogy.
"Most powerful football player"
After several missed penalties, it was finally Holmberg's turn.
You can never know which one will be the decisive penalty. When I'm there (in the national team), I'm there on the same terms as everyone else, and I also want to take responsibility in the moment. I want to be one who takes responsibility in such situations as well, says the full-back.
After the miss, Holmberg received support from a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
He is probably the most powerful football player Sweden has ever had, so incredibly big to get a message from him. It's not something you take for granted, I'm very grateful that he took the time.
Would have done it again
She has also received a lot of love from other places.
I'm incredibly grateful for all the support I've received after the penalty miss and all those who have written have meant a lot, says Holmberg.
After the defeat, Holmberg has processed the event and talked to people around her. It has been tough, but she would do it again.
To become the absolute best football player, you need to dare to take responsibility, and that's probably something I would have wanted to do again, says Holmberg about the penalty.
