In Wimbledon, the Italian tennis star Jasmine Paolini, ranked sixth in the world, was eliminated already in the second round by the 62nd-ranked Russian Kamilla Rakhimova.
And Paolini's weak form continues.
On Tuesday evening, the 29-year-old lost to the 21-year-old Aoi Ito, ranked 110th in the world, in the second round of the WTA 1,000 tournament in Canada.
Paolini won the first set, but then lost the two subsequent ones when the Japanese Ito played smart. The numbers were written to 2–6, 7–5, 7–6 (7–5) in favor of Ito.
The WTA and ATP tournaments in Canada will continue until August 8 and are played in Montreal and Toronto.
