Australian Samuel Short writes on social media that he has been affected by food poisoning and will not participate in the final, reports swimming site Swimswam.
"I think it's food poisoning from the hotel's lunch. I've only eaten from there. My afternoon and night were filled with vomiting and all the other unpleasant things that come with food poisoning", writes Short.
Several nations have been affected by stomach flu or food poisoning during the World Championship, including the USA, the United Kingdom and Italy.
Short was the second fastest in the heats where Victor Johansson set a Swedish record and became fifth. On 400 meters freestyle on Sunday, Short took the silver and in that race, Victor Johansson became fourth.
The final starts at 13.02 Swedish time.
