The shot man has been taken to hospital, but it is still unclear how badly injured he is. An investigation into attempted murder and serious weapons offenses has been initiated.

A suspect was quickly arrested on the spot, and the police are searching for any additional perpetrators.

The victim is employed at a store in the shopping center, confirms a spokesperson for the store to several media outlets. The store states that it is cooperating with the police and has activated a crisis organization to support its employees.

"Deep ruthlessness"

Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) states that he is in close contact with the Police Authority and is following the development of the situation.

"It is an expression of deep ruthlessness to shoot around on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of employees and visitors at a shopping center. My thoughts go to all those affected by the shooting," he writes in a comment to TT.

The Social Democrats' spokesperson for justice policy, Teresa Carvalho, also sends her thoughts to those affected.

"Yet another shooting, this time inside a mall among innocent people. This ruthless violence is completely unacceptable. It is obvious that more must be done to break the recruitment of children to gangs and stop the shootings," she writes in a comment.

Crisis support activated

After the first alarms about loud bangs at Kungsmässan, the shopping center was evacuated at 3 pm.

During the Sunday evening, the police have been guarding the hospital where the shot man was taken.

Is there any connection to gang criminality?

We cannot comment on that at this stage of the investigation. We will look into it further, says the police's press spokesperson Christian Brattgård.

Kungsbacka municipality has activated its crisis support for the general public at the town hall. According to the chairman of the municipal council, Lisa Andersson (M), the support will be in place as long as it is deemed necessary.

There were many people on the spot and in the vicinity, especially many young people. Then there is a great need to talk and gather. You need support and relief after experiencing such an event, she says.
