The American part of the professional organization PGA says that it is not the players who wanted to be compensated for their participation in the Ryder Cup. The reason for the compensation is that PGA believes that the players and the captain are behind the Ryder Cup becoming one of the world's largest sporting events.
Europe's players are not compensated for their participation. Next year, the Ryder Cup will be played outside New York in September.
