Russian wrestlers, who have been granted permission to participate in the Summer Olympics in Paris, are opting out. The Russian Wrestling Federation announced this on Saturday.
In a statement, they write:
"We do not accept the unsportsmanlike selection principle when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made the list of qualified athletes."
According to the Russian Wrestling Federation, it is a unanimous decision from the federation, athletes, and coaches. In total, ten Russian wrestlers will boycott the Olympics in protest against the IOC.
It has been clear earlier that certain Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to compete in the Olympics under a neutral flag, provided that the athletes in question do not support the war. This also applies to the qualifying competitions.
