The government does not want to spread a Putin narrative about the Russian economy, says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (The Moderate Party) at a press conference.

Therefore, the government is giving the National Institute of Economic Research (KI) a task to create a more in-depth picture of Russia's economy.

We know that the Russian war economy is doped when you start a defense industry that is completely brutal, says Svantesson.

The war is not just a military battle but also a battle about information, she continues. Analysts, the government, and other politicians may have given the impression that Russia's economy is doing better than one might think.

That's why it's important to have a clearer picture.

Russia wants us to believe that the sanctions aren't working, says the Finance Minister.
