According to the Center Party, the government is now building up an economic and moral debt to future generations.
Many are worried: What will the future really look like for our children? says Hatt.
A new climate agreement is being negotiated within the Environmental Council, where all parties in the Riksdag participate. Ahead of the final negotiations and decision on September 10, C is launching a number of demands.
The party believes that Sweden should have one of the most ambitious climate goals in the EU and demands tightened targets for both 2030 and 2040. Within the EU, a goal of reducing emissions by 90 percent by 2040 is being discussed, compared to 1990's emissions. C wants the target to be tightened to 95 percent and for Sweden to set a national target of achieving zero emissions by the same year.
We refuse to accept that Sweden should adapt to Brussels' climate agenda, says Rickard Nordin, climate and energy policy spokesperson.
The emission reductions that are made should take place in Sweden first and foremost, not through climate compensation in other countries, believes C, which also wants to highlight the role of the forest in the green transition.
