According to the proposal, the prohibition on business activities should be extended so that individuals who have committed organized or systematic crime can be prohibited from conducting business activities, even if they did not conduct business when they committed their crimes.
In addition, it is proposed that the maximum time for the prohibition be increased from 10 to 15 years.
”The gangs are nourished by money. To push back organized crime, we must therefore strangle the criminal economy. Extended possibilities for prohibition on business activities are an important step to prevent criminals from using companies to conduct their criminal activities”, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (The Moderate Party) in a press release.
A prohibition on business activities should regularly be able to be given to individuals who commit crimes that result in at least six months' imprisonment, unless special reasons speak against it.
The Social Democrats have also proposed extended prohibitions on business activities for criminals.
