Russian forces have taken a village in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, claims Russia's Defense Ministry.
The forces have "liberated the village of Sokil" which is located about three miles northwest of Donetsk city, according to a statement from the ministry in Moscow.
According to Ukraine, fierce battles are ongoing along the entire front line in the Donetsk region.
At the same time, Russian nighttime attacks have left over 100,000 households without electricity in northern Ukraine. The attacks have also cut off the water supply to thousands of people in the Sumy region, reports Ukraine's Energy Ministry.
According to the ministry, power lines connected to the city's pumping system were hit in the attacks.
In the past 24 hours, at least twelve civilians have been killed in Russian attacks in Ukraine, report local authorities. Another around 50 civilians have been injured, writes the Kyiv Independent newspaper.
