If an investigation is underway into a suspected rebel attack on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in the Indian part of Kashmir. The attack caused the bus to crash into a deep ravine. Nine people died and 33 were injured.
Meanwhile, a hunt is on for the suspected perpetrators, authorities announced the day after the incident.
The pilgrims were on their way to a base camp for the famous Mata Vaishno Devi temple. According to the police, some of the victims had gunshot wounds. The attack is blamed by the police on Muslim rebels fighting against Indian rule in Kashmir.
"Those guilty of this heinous attack will not be spared and will face the wrath of the law", writes Home Minister Amit Shah on X.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
