Patients have been misdiagnosed and had teeth unnecessarily extracted at a dental clinic in Gothenburg, reports Swedish Radio's Kaliber. The dentist has now lost their license.

The Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo) has audited the dentist several times and believes that he has extracted teeth without sufficient grounds in the records and that treatments have been performed incorrectly.

One of the affected patients had 20 of their teeth extracted at the same time and replaced with implants.

Marie Åberg, department head at Ivo, suspects that the dentist has over-treated patients to make money.
