On Thursday evening, a lynx was shot near sheep on Väddö in Norrtälje municipality. Thus, the decision on protective hunting that the County Administrative Board decided with immediate effect ceases.
The decision on protective hunting was made by the County Administrative Board as early as mid-June after six different attacks on sheep in the area. No lynx was shot during that time, but four new attacks could be confirmed.
On July 1, a new decision on protective hunting was made in an expanded area north of Norrtälje. According to the decision, it is only allowed to initiate protective hunting when a single lynx is found at a sheep or goat enclosure or after an attack.
The lynx on Thursday was shot in accordance with those conditions, writes the County Administrative Board in Stockholm in a press release.
