From northern Lapland and a good bit down in Dalarna, SMHI warns of fire risk at the level of very large to extreme. In parts of eastern Götaland and inner and eastern Svealand, the risk is classified as very large.
It has not rained so much and it is dry in the ground and we have very high temperatures now, says Maria Svedestig, meteorologist at SMHI.
Today, some rain showers are expected, but they are local and do not make it humid in the ground. It requires continuous front rain with abundant precipitation to help.
Additionally, there is a risk of thunderstorms that further increase the risk of fire in forests and land. And the warm summer weather persists.
It is warm throughout the country and the heat persists in northern Sweden for several days with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees. It looks like it is not until the middle of next week that this really warm air begins to subside.
The fire risk persists at least over the weekend and probably a bit into next week, at least in northern Sweden.
For those who are in areas with fire risk, it is important to keep track of the county administrative board's regulations and to be careful when burning or using large machines outdoors.
And do not waste water! Do not bathe in bathtubs or take long showers and do not water the lawn, says Maria Svedestig.
