A 17-year-old boy has died after being found with serious injuries on a bridge in Ljusdal in Hälsingland. The police are seeking witness statements about what happened.

We are conducting a technical investigation on site and have received some witness statements. But we do not know what has happened and we are seeking observations from the public, says the police's press spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin.

At present, the police do not suspect any crime in connection with the incident.

We do not suspect any violent crime, even if it cannot be completely ruled out.

The boy was not conscious when he was found by passers-by and was taken to hospital by ambulance. According to the police, he had serious injuries to the head and was bleeding heavily. He later died from his injuries and the police are now investigating the incident.

It could be an accident, there have been problems before with people climbing up onto the arches of the bridge. But we do not know if that is the case in this incident yet, says Jansson Klarin.

The boy's relatives have been notified.
