A so-called VMA, an important public notice, has been issued in central Åsele, Västerbottens län.
The roof is on fire and there is expected to be significant smoke development on the scene. According to Rescue Region Mittnorrland, the fire is burning in the roof of several apartments. One person has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Residents in the area are advised to go indoors and close windows, doors, and ventilation.
Eight units from the rescue service are on the scene and more are on their way, according to SOS Alarm.
Ambulance has also been alerted, but there is currently no information that anyone has been injured. According to Västerbottens-Kuriren, all residents have been evacuated.
Police are also on the scene to assist the rescue service and will take over when the fire is extinguished.
At 19:38, the rescue service gave a prognosis of four hours.
