Previously, help from orienteers has been based on personal contacts. Now, the cooperation is being formalized and expanded in Stockholm County, reports the newspaper Mitti.

The great advantage is that you can cover large areas quickly. And you are used to moving in the dark, says Thomas Rasch, the police's regional coordinator, about the orienteers.

In total, members from about ten clubs have been trained, but the idea is to spread it to more.

Not everyone can always show up, people work, so we need to be many, says Stefan Knorn from Attunda OK to the newspaper.

In Sweden, approximately 27,000 reports of missing persons are made every year. In Stockholm County, the figure is approximately 8,500.
