The similar approach makes the police suspect that the crimes have been committed by the same people.
"It is professional and organized gangs that are behind these crimes", says Lina Carlshamre, crime analyst in police region West, in a press release.
The break-ins have taken place in police regions South, West and East. The police believe that at least two people are involved in each break-in, and that the perpetrators are on the scene and reconnoiter before the crimes are carried out.
The thieves mainly steal jewelry and cash. They leave few traces behind and seem to have good knowledge of alarms and locking devices.
The police are now urging house owners to be vigilant and keep an extra eye on their neighbors' houses, if they know that they are on vacation.
