Simon Pettersson took an Olympic silver in Tokyo 2021.
Despite Sunday's national championship silver, the discus star does not believe in a new Olympic selection.
As it looks right now, I won't be among the 32, says Pettersson to Expressen.
It was a silver in the national athletics championships after a throw of 61.83 meters - a disappointment for Simon Pettersson, who has previously thrown over 70 meters in his career.
After that Olympic silver in Japan and the fine season the following year, it has been tough for Pettersson, who has not reached his top form.
It's the timing and technique that I feel are failing a bit. I just can't get it together. There have been a few throws during the week where I've felt "there it was!". It has made me feel that there's a possibility, but then I haven't been able to put it together at the competitions. It's just a matter of continuing to try, but it's frustrating when it doesn't go as you want, says Pettersson to Expressen.
Ahead of this week's Olympic selection, the 30-year-old has no high hopes.
The selections are taking place this week and as it looks right now, I won't be among the 32, so it's obviously disappointing. You can't say that I've given the Swedish Olympic Committee anything to select me for during the season.
Ahead of Pettersson is a GP competition in Karlstad next.
