NRK was the first to report that Fis wants to punish the Norwegians. Then, both the Norwegian Ski Association and Fis came with separate press releases after an investigation was presented.
Fis accuses the jumpers Johann André Forfang and Marius Lindvik, as well as the former leaders Magnus Brevik, Thomas Lobben, and Adrian Livelten of being involved in the scandal during the World Championship in Trondheim in March.
Norway was caught with manipulated suits in connection with the men's competition in the large hill. Forfang and Lindvik were disqualified and Lindvik lost his silver. Brevik was fired and Lobben and Livelten were suspended.
Training as usual
"I want to emphasize that we still have full confidence in Lindvik and Forfang's explanations, and that they did not know about the manipulation of the jumping suits", says Tove Moe Dyrhaug, chairman of the Norwegian Ski Association.
According to NRK, Fis wants to suspend Forfang and Lindvik for three months, excluding the period the duo was already suspended, and also fine them with 2,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to around 23,600 Swedish kronor.
The duo trains as usual with the national team during the preseason while waiting for the verdict, according to the Norwegian Ski Association.
Three acquitted
Fis confirms that the accused Norwegian jumpers and leaders risk both suspension and fines. Fis' ethics committee makes a decision after considering the investigation. The decision can later be appealed.
Forfang and Lindvik were suspended along with the other three Norwegian World Championship ski jumpers Robin Pedersen, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, and Robert Johansson after the scandal.
Pedersen, Eriksen Sundal, and Johansson are acquitted after Fis' investigation.
