A month ago, the European Football Association (Uefa) decided to move the FA Cup winner Crystal Palace down from the European League to the Conference League. The reason was that the club's previous owner John Textor is also the majority owner of Lyon, which also qualified for the European League, which violates Uefa's ownership rules.
Premier League club Crystal Palace appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas, but got no response there. Cas does not believe that Crystal Palace has been treated unfairly by Uefa.
Crystal Palace will now play playoffs to reach the Conference League. The spot in the European League, which Crystal Palace received as cup winner in England, is now given to Premier League seventh-place Nottingham. Crystal Palace takes over Nottingham's spot in the Conference League's playoff match.
