Uruguay, with Luis Suaréz in a leading role, saved third place in the South American Championship by winning over Canada on penalties.
Suaréz, now in Inter Miami, made sure to keep his team in the match by equalizing to 2–2 in stoppage time in the second half. In the subsequent penalty shootout, he scored one of the Uruguayan penalties. So did three of his teammates, while the Canadian nerves did not hold for more than three goals.
In the final, on Monday night Swedish time, reigning champions Argentina will meet Colombia.
