Interest rate cuts and declining inflation make Swedish retailers look more positively on the future, according to this month's trade barometer.
Future confidence is growing, particularly in the daily goods trade, but also for occasional purchase trade, it continues to rise.
Sofia Larsen, CEO of Svensk Handel, is delighted with the budding optimism, but points out that it is still tough for trade.
High local rents and consumers holding back are reflected in the bankruptcy figures. So far this year, more have gone bankrupt than in the last three years.
"Many Swedish trading companies are fighting for their survival, with high local rents and consumers still holding tight to their wallets", says Sofia Larsen in a press release.
