The AI company Open AI is launching its own search engine.
It was on Thursday that the company announced that they had begun developing a prototype for a search engine they call Search GPT. It is intended to provide users with answers with "clear and relevant sources".
Following the announcement, the stock for Google's parent company Alphabet fell. It eventually closed at 3.1 percent minus.
The search engine is currently being tested on a small user group. Open AI is also behind the chatbot Chat GPT, and the long-term plan is to integrate the search engine into the service.
Since Chat GPT was launched in November 2022, Alphabet's investors have been worried that Open AI would take market shares from Google, which the company now appears to be attempting to do.
