The table tennis pair Kristian Karlsson and Christina Källberg are out of the Olympic Games mixed doubles.
It's bloody tough, says Karlsson after the loss in the quarterfinals.
The two Swedes lost 4–1 in sets in the quarterfinals against the North Korean duo Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum-Yong.
The Swedes got nothing for free in the Paris arena and Karlsson made mistakes in his backhand. A tough loss. They hugged each other afterwards.
We had high-set goals, we wanted to take a medal. It's clear that it's bloody tough right now, but you have to look at the match as a whole and then they were a class better today, says Karlsson after the loss.
He believes that the North Korean duo has a chance to win the entire mixed doubles tournament.
Absolute, they could go all the way, he says.
For Källberg, it was thus double losses on Sunday. Earlier, she lost to Indian Sreeja Akula in the first round of the singles tournament in four straight sets. Källberg is thus out of the singles tournament in the Olympic Games in Paris.
I'm pretty tired and empty now. It's been a long day and it didn't end as I wanted, so it feels empty, says Källberg after today's double losses.
On the other hand, it went better for Christina's brother Anton Källberg, who defeated Saheed Idowu. But he was in a tough spot against the much lower-ranked Congolese.
In the end, it was Källberg who drew the shortest straw and won with 4–3 in sets.
