"President Donald J Trump has just been unanimously elected as chairman of the prestigious Kennedy Center", writes USA's president about himself on Truth Social.
"A great honor", he continues about the not entirely unexpected election.
Earlier in the week, he wrote that he would act to change the direction of the cultural center's activities, which he has criticized.
"As recently as last year, Kennedy Center had drag shows specifically aimed at young people – that's going to stop", he wrote then.
Immediately after the announcement, musician Ben Folds resigned as artistic advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra, which is based at the Kennedy Center.
Even the center's CEO, Deborah F Rutter, is leaving, she says herself. The new board claims that she has been fired.
The Kennedy Center was founded in 1958 and is the USA's national institution for culture and is supposed to be a non-political organization.
But Trump broke with tradition during his first term by not attending the Kennedy Center's annual galas for prominent cultural figures. This was after several cultural figures who were critical of him were awarded prizes.
