The police in Finnmark, the northernmost part of Norway, are struggling to recruit and retain their personnel.

To get the police to stay longer in service, they will receive 60,000 Norwegian kronor in bonus if they work in Finnmark's police district for one year, and an additional 90,000 kronor if they work for two years.

This is called a "loyalty bonus".

Alone during 2024, over a third of police services in Finnmark were advertised.

The loyalty bonus, however, does not apply to police in the cities of Kirkenes, Alta, and Hammerfest, where it is not as difficult to get personnel to stay.
