The Norwegian crown prince couple refuses to answer questions about their son Marius Borg Høiby, who is suspected of assault. The couple held a brief press conference during a visit to Trøndelag on Thursday.
It's not right to say anything more about the matter at this point, out of consideration for all those involved, says Crown Prince Haakon.
Marius Borg Høiby has been accused of and admitted to assaulting his girlfriend. He is also being investigated for a number of other crimes, including threats, vandalism, theft of an electric scooter, and assault of two previous partners.
Out of consideration for all those involved, we do not wish to comment on this now, and we hope you understand, says Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Marius Borg Høiby has no royal title and has chosen to live his life outside the spotlight. He is Mette-Marit's son from a previous relationship and has stated in a written statement to the press that he has problems with drugs and alcohol.
At the end of August, he traveled to Italy on the advice of his defense attorney.
