The alarm came to the police via SOS from a residential building in the Teleborg district of Växjö at 19.18.
I was at home and heard something. I thought it was something that had fallen down in the apartment, says a neighbor to TT.
"Got scared"
It was not until he came out into the stairwell that he realized something serious had happened. There, he met a shocked man who asked him to open for an ambulance and the police.
It felt uncomfortable and I got a little scared, actually. It doesn't usually happen here, so I spent the night at my son's.
The police state that the shot individuals had a relationship with each other, but do not want to go into exactly what kind. The neighbor says that he has met them together on several occasions.
They were so nice, so pleasant and so helpful. I have no idea how this could have happened to such fine people. For me, it was a shock.
Investigating motive
The woman's injuries were initially described as serious and on Tuesday morning, the police reported that she had died. The man's injuries are reportedly mild according to Region Kronoberg.
The incident is being investigated as murder and attempted murder. So far, the police have no idea of the motive behind the shooting.
— We don't know the motive for the incident, so we're investigating it, says acting local police chief Robert Falk.
Several involved
The police cannot say whether one or several individuals were involved in the shooting.
— It's not something we can comment on, but we assume that several people may be involved in any case.
The police have seized a car in the vicinity, reports Smålandsposten. The information is confirmed by Robert Falk, but he adds that it has not been confirmed that the car is linked to the murder and attempted murder.
