A new sponsor saves Dalsland's poetry prize. The tourist organization Visit Dalsland is sponsoring the prize until 2028.

"It's so very nice. We are in a difficult economic situation overall due to cuts from the state and municipality and increased costs due to the global situation", says Dalsland's Literature Association's CEO Victor Estby in a press release.

It has been known for some time that this year's prize goes to poet Athena Farrokhzad. This led the previous sponsor to withdraw, citing that the choice had fallen on an activist in the Palestine issue and that the prize had thus been politicized.

The poetry prize is awarded in connection with this year's Book Days in Dalsland, July 24-27.
