At least two people have been hit with some kind of weapon by a man in his 30s in central Gävle. With the help of pepper spray, the police were able to apprehend the man, who was later arrested.
The police received a report of the incident at 11 am on Saturday. According to eyewitnesses, the man struck several passersby without provocation. He also allegedly attacked vehicles and smashed a car window.
We know that people are bleeding and that at least two people have been injured. There may be more, says police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin.
The charges are vandalism and aggravated assault, but it is still unclear how badly injured the victims are. The police do not want to disclose what kind of weapon was used.
