The man is still suspected of attempted murder or causing bodily harm, as well as gross negligence in traffic.

The offense classification may change, said Göran Holmgren, community police officer in Malmö earlier in the day.

He emphasized that there is still nothing to suggest that it was intentional.

We work completely without preconceptions. We will conduct a technical examination of the car. We have received some witness statements and I think there is a film. No one can say a hundred percent what happened and we are still interested in witness statements.

The incident occurred at a bus stop in central Malmö on Thursday. Four people, including several from the same family, were taken to hospital by ambulance. According to Region Skåne, a girl aged 6-10 has serious injuries, while a two-year-old and two women in their 45s are slightly injured.

It's miraculous that there aren't more injured, and even dead. It's a bus stop with a lot of people that he has passed. It's luck in misfortune that not more have been injured, says Holmgren.
