Twice the man was sifted out in recruitments because he lacked Swedish dental education – despite having a Swedish dental license. Now the Discrimination Ombudsman (DO) demands that the employers pay damages.
The man has a dentist exam from a university in another country that he has complemented in Sweden and has a Swedish dental license.
DO considers that the requirement for Swedish dental education neither has a justified purpose nor is suitable and necessary and demands that the employers shall pay 40,000 kronor each in compensation. They have until mid-August, thereafter DO may submit a summons application to the Labor Court.
