At least eight people have died in a severe fire at a research institute in Fryazino near Russia's capital Moscow, reports the Russian state news agency Tass.
Video footage from the scene shows the facility enveloped in thick, black smoke. In several windows, open flames can be seen.
Over 100 firefighters are battling the blaze, including with the help of helicopters.
According to the Russian state news agency Ria, the research centre Platan has offices in the building. The centre is involved, according to Ria, in electronics and radio components and has, according to Tass, links to the country's defence industry. However, the news agency reports that the premises also house a private company.
The cause of the fire is unclear.
