Now Möregårdh is back in the pingis cage for international competitions and on Monday morning, Swedish time, he won against Japanese Shunsuke Togami in the round of 16 in WTT Champions in Macao with 3–1 in sets.
It was Togami whom Kristian Karlsson beat in a decisive match against Japan in the OS semifinal – in a situation where Sweden was trailing 0–2 in matches. Sweden eventually won with 3–2, but in the final, China was too tough.
In Macao, world number one Möregårdh lost the first set to Togami with 5–11, but managed to win the match with 3–1 via 11–8, 11–8, and 11–9. In the quarterfinal, Englishman Liam Pitchford awaits.
In the WTT Champions tournament, 32 men's and women's players participate. On the men's side, Mattias Falck and Anton Källberg also participate, and on the women's side, Linda Bergström.
