Microsoft is leaving Open AI's board. The cloud giant, which has invested 13 billion dollars in the American creator of Chat GPT, has announced to Open AI that it is withdrawing from the company's board, where it has held a non-voting seat since the end of last year.
"Over the past eight months, we have seen significant progress from the newly formed board and we are convinced of the company's direction. We no longer believe that our limited role as observer is necessary", writes Microsoft in a letter to Open AI, which the news agency Bloomberg has taken part of.
Even Apple, which seemed to take a seat on the board, is now said to be dropping the idea.
In parallel with the announcement, several investigations are underway regarding Microsoft's investment in Open AI. Among other things, the deal is being scrutinized by the competition authorities in the EU and the UK.
