Malmö FF is eliminated from the Champions League qualifying. FC Copenhagen ran over the Swedish champions in the third qualifying round and won with 5–0. It looks like we don't care, says MFF coach Henrik Rydström after the match.

Malmö FF had a tough evening in Copenhagen. After the big loss to FCK in the third qualifying round for the Champions League, it was downbeat in the MFF leadership.

Terrible. It hurts. It feels humiliating and tough, says team captain Pontus Jansson in Aftonbladet's broadcast.

On the question of whether it was the worst loss for Jansson in the MFF jersey, the reply comes quickly:

The worst in my career. It will be a wake-up call for us and the association.

"My responsibility"

Coach Henrik Rydström was extremely disappointed after the match.

It doesn't look like we care. It's the worst thing you can convey as a football player, he says and continues:

It could have been 6-0 there in the end as well.

Rydström takes responsibility for the loss.

Of course, it's my responsibility. You can't say anything else. This is the worst I've performed. I won't stand and pretend otherwise. It's an incredibly bad performance by me and embarrassing for our part.

Pulled back penalty

MFF had a 0-0 result to build on from the first meeting but got it hot around the ears directly in the start of the match.

Despite having the upper hand, it wasn't until the 31st minute that the Danes broke the zero when Rodrigo Huescas headed in 1-0 to the home team.

Just before the break, it slammed again. Robert Silva got the ball outside the box, created space and easily placed 2-0.

In stoppage time of the first half, the referee first blew for a penalty to MFF, but after VAR review, the decision was withdrawn. 2-0 remained until the break.

In the second half, FCK continued to push and when the clock ticked up towards 70 minutes, the score was a full 5-0. A result that stood for the rest of the match.

With the elimination, Malmö FF now drops down a notch and will continue to qualify for the Europa League instead. There, Czech SK Sigma Olomouc awaits in the playoff.
