The limit for a delayed train is set at five minutes here, and both commuter trains and regional and long-distance trains are included in the measurement made by the Swedish Transport Administration. The commuter trains in Östergötland were the most punctual, arriving on time at 97 percent of departures.
During the month, nearly 95,000 passenger trains ran on the railways, which is a record number, excluding January this year.
"I commute by train myself and can understand why those who have been delayed wonder if they can rely on arriving on time next time, but it's actually more trains that arrive on time today than there were trains running at all just ten years ago," says Ann-Sofie Atterbrand, head of rail planning at the Swedish Transport Administration, in a press release.
